Coastscape

Coastscape

Connecting home to expansive coastline

Located on the crest of the NSW Central Coast headland, with expansive views to the front and rear. This home is the culmination of a lifetime of engaging.

For Human Spaces, this relatively flat block with road access was a dream site. However, during construction it was to become our covid child. Limited access coupled with endless rain and lack of materials, Coastscape was a super challenging build. Patience and co-operation were required in large quantities.

The home is essentially two pavilions, and this can be seen in the scale of the façade elements as well as the materials selected;

A pavilion to play in; with a dramatic double height, the ground floor polished concrete spilling out into the front garden and rear veranda.

A pavilion to retreat to; with timber floors, controlled views, intimate decks and light filled bathrooms.

The skillion roof of the main pavilion was raised to allow northern light to enter the building in winter with the large eave overhang limiting the heat of the higher summer rays.

The house has solar panels and a heat pump for hot water and hydronic heating. It recycles its own stormwater, with a wetland area established to help reduce high rainfall runoff.

The builder was exceptional and the quality of finishes is extremely high throughout. This is a home designed closely with its Owners. It has many layers and possible iterations and provides joyful living spaces.
