From the moment that we first met Jill, we were convinced that her ideas and knowledge of building sustainably aligned with what we wanted in building our new, forever home on the Central Coast, NSW. In addition to building sustainably, we wanted our new home to take full advantage of the coastal views on offer from our property and its northerly aspect.

After commissioning Jill for the task, she developed a concept plan that met all our requirements and the limitations of building on a small suburban allotment. From concept plan to developing and lodging plans and applications to Council, we found Jill to be across all the detail and was very communicative with updates and knowledge of the building industry and codes as well as liasing with Council.

After helping us with engaging a quality, local builder, Jill administered the contract with the builder, during the construction phase. In this task we found Jill to be very thorough and attentive and she developed a good working relationship with the builder. Jill would visit the building site regularly and provide us with updates on progress as well as inspection reports. She also diligently managed the administration of progress payments to the builder.

We feel very privileged to be living in such a beautifully designed home and are very grateful to Jill for helping create this for us. We have no hesitation in recommending Jill to be your architect in designing and helping to create your next dream home.

"Looking back, It’s hard to believe we lived any differently. Jill's design has transformed the way Hugh works and has influenced the way we live as a family.

Daily, we delight in the many subtleties of our new home environment . It is everything we could have hoped for. It’s an inspirational creative space as well as a warm inviting sanctuary for our home life.

Jill has our confidence, gratitude and comes with our highest recommendation."

"Building our home was a very personal journey for us and so it was important that we found an architect that we could connect with both intellectually and emotionally, and who had the experience of building in a challenging location.

Our brief focussed around the river, the adjoining bush and the abundant views, and was encapsulated by the term “Glorified Tin Shack” – beauty without ostentation.

We had fallen in love with Berowra Waters and 'the river' the first time we saw it. It was just what we were looking for – a quiet place, a sanctuary. We wanted our home to sit quietly within it and not interrupt it's beauty. Jill understood. The end result was everything we could have hoped for, so we named it ' Nunga Mai' – a Guring-gai aboriginal expression for ‘Gift’.

The design process was easy, collaborative and a joy really.

Throughout, Jill kept us informed and was open to hearing and working with our ideas. We would discuss our thoughts, she would offer alternatives, then go away and return with "our idea" transformed. Jill was not prescriptive about anything unless building controls required it. Her expertise helped guide us through the whole design process, through a successful and seamless Development Application, and through a comprehensive construction design stage.

The only mistake we made was not using Jill to manage the build project itself, which would have saved us a lot of time later on."

The skill of being able to design a home for someone else is truly rare. So many architects design homes in their own style, and then customers buy that style.

Finding an architect who will listen to your needs and then create a home that is in sync with your needs is a genuinely enjoyable endeavour.

For us, Jill was that architect.

She had a clear process, an equally clear fee structure and an enthusiasm for our project.

Jill gave us what we needed in a home, which was not clear to us at the start. The journey of discovery with her opened our eyes to what was possible and produced a home that we delight in every day.
